The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This is the last Sunday of the liturgical year. With everything that we have witnessed Jesus do throughout his Word it is fitting that this is when we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Let’s take this time to reflect on who Jesus is and what he has done in each of our lives this past year.
How has our relationship with him grown over the past year? Have we been preparing for his second coming, and if he came for us today would we be ready? Knowing he is God the Son, when we come before Christ in the Eucharist, do we receive him with humility and respect? He gave his life out of his love for us to pay the price for all our sins. Are we willing to give our lives completely to him in return? Are we seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness? Putting his will before everything and everyone else in our lives?
Jesus told Pilate in the Gospel of John that his kingdom does not belong to this world. As members of the Body of Christ we also do not belong to this world. We are just passing through spreading the Good News of Christ as we continue our journey towards Christ and his kingdom.
He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and he is our loving and merciful savior. May we continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus and give him thanks and praise for all he has done for us.
Your brother in Christ,
Deacon Manny
