The Second Sunday of Advent
It is a custom that when a visitor was expected to arrive, we would have to get the house in order. We would clean up as much as possible. I remember my days in my previous work during my professional years. The company was usually visited by very important people or VIPs. So, the management would instruct every employee to clean up their respective work areas. We would straighten up all the mess that we always overlooked in our daily operations so that when the particular VIPs came, they would be impressed, and so, we would have good reviews; therefore, we would not be embarrassed. We should do the same in the season of Advent.
“A voice of one crying out in the desert, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths’” (Mt 3: 3b). This passage from the Gospel according to St. Matthew is actually the words of Prophet Isaiah. It was a call for the people to repent from their sinful ways. It was a way of clearing up the mess of their hearts and souls. And so, in this Advent season, aside from cleaning our respective homes and putting up the Christmas decorations, we also have to clean up our hearts and souls from our sins. Thus, we are encouraged to go to confession in this season of Advent.
One way to sort things out in our respective souls is to be with the Lord in prayer. The better way to do that is to be in the presence of the Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament exposed. In adoration, we can be silent and have a sincere conversation with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament by opening up all that bothers us. We can examine our conscience while in adoration. This is also a good way to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ this Christmas, His coming in mystery and in His second coming.
Have a blessed Advent Season.

Feast of Lady of Guadalupe Set for Dec. 12
What is Our Lady of Guadalupe?
The Catholic Church commemorates the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas, on December 12. Besides this Marian feast day and devotion to the Blessed Mother, carrying special significance for many immigrants in the United States, Our Lady of Guadalupe is also known as the patroness of the unborn after appearing to Saint Juan Diego as a pregnant mother.
