29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Brother and Sisters in Christ,

This weekend Jesus teaches us to “pray always without becoming weary.” He tells his disciples a parable of a dishonest judge who gives in and delivers a just decision to a widow who continuously bothers him about making a just decision for her against her adversary. The widow was persistent and never gave up and she got justice from a dishonest judge. She could have given up, but she didn’t and it paid off. Jesus wants us to know God is just and he wants us to be persistent when we come to him in prayer. He loves us and wants us to rely on him for what we need.
With everything that is happening around us in the world today it can be easy to feel like people's prayers aren’t being answered. Jesus came to free us from our suffering to save us from the slavery of sin. He is the answer to fix what is broken in our world. Imagine if everyone in the world would repent and accept his love and forgiveness, then turn around and share that love and forgiveness with their neighbors. Would there be any more hate, war or violence if we all loved each other like Jesus loves us? It is up to us to continue praying and spreading the Gospel message in both word and action.
In the Gospel of Luke Jesus asks us one final question “But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” We need to continue being the light of Christ shining for all the world to see. If 2000 years ago, the disciples stopped praying or chose not to carry and pass on the torch of faith, the church wouldn’t be here today, and we wouldn’t be here today either.
Let’s do our part as we continue to pray for peace and justice in a broken world and show others Christ through how we live our lives sharing the light of faith with all we meet.
Your brother in Christ
