You Will Have Trouble But Take Courage, I Have Conquered The World – John 16:29-33

The Seventh Sunday of Easter Reflection

Dear Parishioners:

The Seventh Sunday of Easter

On this Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord we are reminded of our mission as disciples of Christ to “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature”. Once we became part of the Body of Christ at our baptism it became our responsibility to spread the news of Christ to others so they too might believe and be baptized. We do this so other sinners like us can be saved by the Grace of God and be ready for his second coming.

Some may act like their faith is a secret. Others may want to keep Jesus all to themselves. God wants to have a personal relationship with each of us, but not so we can keep him secret and all to ourselves. He wants our personal relationship to progress to the point that we want to spread the message of his good news to everyone we meet no matter where we are and what we are doing. If we all were in a burning building with others inside, wouldn’t we try to let them know the building was on fire? Especially if others didn’t know about the fire, we would be doing whatever we could to get their attention, at the very least we would pull the fire alarm, or maybe even risk our own lives so others have a chance to get out safely.

We live in a world that is already condemned by our sin. We have been shown the way so we all can be saved. We believe in the Good News of Jesus Christ and have been baptized. Now we need to show others the way by sharing the Good news of Christ with them so they also have an opportunity to believe as Jesus said “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;” May we continue to do what Christ asks of us by sharing the Gospel with all we meet.

Your brother in Christ

Today's Bible Message

Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now?
Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world, you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

– John 16:29-33

Prayer to St. Anne's

sanne

Good St. Anne, you were especially favored by God to be the Mother of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Savior. By your power with your most pure daughter and with her divine Son, kindly obtain for us the grace and the favor we now seek. Please secure for us also forgiveness of our past sins, the strength to perform faithfully our daily duties and the help we need to persevere in the love of Jesus and Mary.
Amen

Our Heavenly Father

The Icon of Our Heavenly Father will grace the entrance of the Capuchin Poor Clare Nuns Monastery when it is completed.
